My Story

Leah, founder of Cover Story Brighton

Hi, I'm Leah

I'm a self-confessed magazine obsessive — the kind of person who can't walk past a good newsstand without having a look, and probably doesn't need another magazine but buys one anyway.

I genuinely love print — the feeling of finding a brilliant magazine you've never heard of, getting completely absorbed in it and discovering something you wouldn't have found by endlessly scrolling.

When I moved to Brighton, I kept thinking surely there should be somewhere for all of this?

So I decided to make it.

Cover Story is an independent magazine shop, but hopefully it becomes a lot more than that. Somewhere to discover brilliant print, find your people, come to events, get excited about new releases and occasionally spend far too long deciding which magazine to take home.

I want it to be shaped by the people who actually come through the door. What we stock, what events we run, which weird little corners of print we discover together — I want Brighton to have a say.

Honestly, I don't quite know exactly what Cover Story will become yet.

And I think that's the fun bit.

I just know I want to build somewhere that celebrates print, curiosity and community — and gives people a reason to put their phones down for a bit.

Come say hi. Bring your favourite magazine. I'll probably want to talk about it.
