Terms of Service

Last updated: 31 August 2026

These Terms of Service set out the terms that apply when you use the Cover Story Brighton website or purchase products from us.

By using our website or placing an order, you agree to these terms.

1. About us

This website is operated by Cover Story Brighton Ltd ("we", "us", "our" or "Cover Story").

Company: Cover Story Brighton Ltd
Email: hello@coverstorybrighton.co.uk

These terms apply to all purchases made through our website.

2. Using our website

You agree to use our website only for lawful purposes.

You must not:

  • Use the website in a way that could damage, disable or impair it
  • Attempt to gain unauthorised access to the website or its systems
  • Use the website for fraudulent or unlawful purposes
  • Copy, reproduce or commercially exploit our website content without permission
  • Introduce viruses, malware or other harmful material

We reserve the right to restrict or suspend access to the website where we reasonably believe these terms have been breached.

3. Products

We sell magazines, print publications and other products through our website.

We make reasonable efforts to ensure that product descriptions, images and information on our website are accurate. However, colours, images and appearance may vary slightly from the actual product.

Some magazines may be published in different editions, territories or cover variants. Where relevant, the edition or version supplied will be described on the product page.

Unless specifically stated otherwise, images shown on our website are for illustration purposes.

4. Product availability

All products are subject to availability.

Because some of the products we sell are limited-edition, collectible or supplied in limited quantities, we cannot guarantee that a product will remain available after you have placed an order.

If we are unable to fulfil your order, we will contact you and, where appropriate, offer you an alternative or provide a refund.

5. Prices

All prices displayed on our website are in pounds sterling (£), unless otherwise stated.

Prices include VAT where applicable.

We make reasonable efforts to ensure that prices are accurate. If we discover a genuine pricing error before your order has been dispatched, we may contact you to confirm whether you wish to proceed at the correct price or cancel the order.

We reserve the right to change prices at any time, but changes will not affect an order that we have already accepted.

6. Placing an order

When you place an order through our website, you are making an offer to purchase the products selected.

After placing an order, you should receive an order confirmation by email.

An order confirmation does not necessarily mean that your order has been accepted. Your order is accepted when we confirm that the products have been dispatched or otherwise expressly confirm acceptance.

We reserve the right to refuse or cancel an order where there is a legitimate reason to do so, including suspected fraud, a pricing error, product availability issues or an inability to fulfil the order.

If we cancel an order after you have paid, we will provide a full refund of the amount paid for the cancelled products.

7. Payment

Payment must be made using one of the payment methods available at checkout.

Payments may be processed through third-party payment providers, including Shopify Payments and PayPal.

We do not normally have access to or store your full payment card details.

Your payment information may be subject to the terms and privacy policies of the relevant payment provider.

8. Delivery

We deliver to the destinations shown as available during checkout.

Delivery times shown on our website are estimates unless we expressly state otherwise.

Once your order has been dispatched, you may receive tracking information where tracking is available.

Delivery may occasionally be delayed because of circumstances outside our reasonable control, including postal delays, customs processes, adverse weather, strikes or other disruptions.

If an order is delayed or appears to have been lost, please contact us and we will investigate the matter with the relevant delivery provider.

For international orders, the recipient may be responsible for customs duties, import taxes or other charges imposed by the destination country.

9. International orders

If you order from outside the UK, you are responsible for ensuring that the products you order can legally be imported into your country.

Any customs duties, import taxes, handling charges or other fees imposed by the destination country are generally the responsibility of the recipient unless we expressly state otherwise.

Customs processes can sometimes cause delays that are outside our control.

10. Your statutory rights

Nothing in these Terms of Service affects your legal rights as a consumer under UK law.

Where a product is faulty, damaged, not as described or otherwise does not conform to your legal rights, you may be entitled to a repair, replacement, price reduction or refund depending on the circumstances.

These rights exist in addition to any returns policy we provide.

11. Cancellation and change-of-mind returns

If you are a UK consumer purchasing products online, you may generally have the right to cancel your order within 14 days of receiving the goods, without giving a reason, subject to applicable legal exceptions.

If you exercise this right, you should notify us within the applicable cancellation period.

You then generally have a further 14 days to return the goods.

Returned goods should be in appropriate condition. You may be responsible for any reduction in the value of goods resulting from handling beyond what is reasonably necessary to establish their nature, characteristics and functioning.

Where the statutory cancellation right applies, we will refund the applicable payment in accordance with UK consumer law.

Unless the goods are faulty, incorrect or otherwise our responsibility, you will generally be responsible for the direct cost of returning goods when exercising a change-of-mind cancellation right, unless we have agreed otherwise.

12. Products that cannot be returned

Certain products may be excluded from cancellation rights where permitted by law.

For example, this may include goods that are sealed for health or hygiene reasons where the seal has been broken, or other products falling within a statutory exception.

Where a particular product is subject to a legally applicable cancellation exception, this will be made clear where appropriate.

Nothing in this section removes any statutory rights you have in relation to faulty, damaged or incorrectly supplied goods.

13. Damaged or incorrect items

Please contact us as soon as reasonably possible if your order arrives damaged, defective or incorrect.

Where appropriate, please provide photographs of the item and packaging to help us investigate the issue.

We will deal with the matter in accordance with your statutory rights and our returns procedures.

You will not lose your legal rights simply because you do not report damage immediately, although prompt notification can help us resolve the issue more quickly.

14. Refunds

Where you are entitled to a refund, we will normally refund the original payment method used for the purchase.

The timing of a refund appearing in your account may depend on your bank or payment provider.

Where required by law, refunds will include applicable delivery costs.

We may delay a refund where permitted by law until we have received the returned goods or you have provided evidence that they have been returned.

15. Promotions and discount codes

From time to time, we may offer promotional codes, discounts or special offers.

Unless stated otherwise:

  • Promotional codes cannot be exchanged for cash
  • Only one promotional code may be used per order
  • Promotions may be subject to specific terms
  • We reserve the right to withdraw or amend a promotion where permitted by law

Specific promotional terms will take precedence over these general terms where applicable.

16. Gift cards

If we offer gift cards, additional terms may apply to their purchase and use.

Any expiry dates, restrictions or other conditions applicable to a gift card will be stated at the time of purchase.

Gift cards cannot be exchanged for cash unless required by law.

17. Intellectual property

Unless otherwise stated, the content on this website, including text, graphics, logos, photographs, designs, layout and other material, belongs to Cover Story Brighton Ltd or is used with permission.

You may view and use the website for your personal, non-commercial purposes.

You must not reproduce, distribute, modify, publish or commercially exploit our content without our prior written permission, except where permitted by law.

Nothing in these terms transfers ownership of any intellectual property to you.

18. Third-party websites and services

Our website may contain links to third-party websites or use third-party services, including payment providers, social media platforms and delivery services.

We are not responsible for the content, availability or privacy practices of third-party websites.

Your use of third-party services may be subject to their own terms and conditions.

19. Website availability

We aim to keep our website available and operating properly, but we cannot guarantee that it will always be available or free from errors.

We may temporarily suspend, modify or withdraw parts of the website where necessary for maintenance, security, technical reasons or other legitimate business purposes.

20. Limitation of liability

Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability where doing so would be unlawful.

This includes liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or any other liability that cannot legally be excluded or limited.

Subject to the above, we are not responsible for losses that:

  • Were not reasonably foreseeable when the contract was formed
  • Are not caused by our breach of these terms
  • Result from circumstances outside our reasonable control

Nothing in these terms affects your statutory consumer rights.

21. Events outside our control

We will not be responsible for failure or delay in performing our obligations where this is caused by circumstances outside our reasonable control.

This may include, for example:

  • Natural disasters
  • Fire or flooding
  • Strikes or industrial disputes
  • Postal or courier disruption
  • Internet or telecommunications failures
  • Government restrictions
  • War, terrorism or civil unrest
  • Significant supplier disruption
  • Other events that we could not reasonably have prevented

Where such an event affects your order, we will take reasonable steps to minimise the impact and keep you informed where appropriate.

22. Privacy

Our use of your personal information is explained in our Privacy Policy.

By using our website, you acknowledge that personal information will be handled in accordance with that policy and applicable data protection law.

23. Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms of Service from time to time.

The latest version will be published on this page and will show the date it was last updated.

Changes will not affect rights or obligations that have already arisen under an existing order unless required by law.

24. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales.

If you are a consumer, you will also retain any mandatory consumer protections provided by the laws of the country in which you live where applicable.
